Lottery grant to develop RADICLE's Lunch Club

A grant from Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All will help RADICLE's Lunch Club at St James the Less in Bethnal Green, London E2 to become more vibrant and lively for local older people.

Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All grant to develop RADICLE's Lunch Club

The Lunch Club in London E2 is run by the charity RADICLE and welcomes all older people to share their lunch with friends. It meets Monday to Friday in the hall adjacent to St James the Less Church off the Old Ford Road.

Recently numbers have reduced, meaning it is less enjoyable for those who attend. The grant from Awards for All will be spent on marketing the club locally to attract new attendees and to develop a variety of activities such as crafts, music, and outings.

Michael Ryan, Director of RADICLE, says "We know there are many older people who live alone locally and would enjoy the company the lunch club provides. This grant means we can tell them about it and encourage them to attend.  The Lunch Club helps older people to overcome isolation and improve their mental and physical well being."

The Big Lottery Fund distributes half of the National Lottery good cause funding across the UK.  The Fund aims to enable others to make real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.
