OUTSTANDING OFSTED award for Nursery

RADICLE's Church Street Nursery in Westminster has once again been judged 'outstanding' by OFSTED in education and care as a result of their inspection on 1st March 2011. This is the highest level that OFSTED awards and means they rate the provision to be of exceptionally high quality.
Gaynor Wheeler, Manager of Church Street Nursery, is delighted, "This is a well deserved tribute to the consistent hard work and dedication of my long standing, highly qualified staff team."

The report highlights the value of the skilled management saying: 'Managers communicate ambition and drive and secure improvement effectively.' And draws attention to the quality of the staff team: 'Children are exceptionally supported to make the best possible progress in their learning and development.'

It compliments the excellent relationships with parents and carers: 'A highly effective relationship with parents and carers who are involved in decision making on key matters.... Parents are kept well informed about their children's progress through newsletters and discussions.'

It also comments on the Nursery's effective partnership work: 'Highly committed to working in partnership with others....successful links with other provides ensure the continuity of care for the children.'

The report concludes: 'Children ...have an exceptional sense of belonging and self-esteem. Children are developing significant skills for the future.'

The Nursery has been told that it may lose almost £100K in grant funding and Sure Start funding from Westminster City Council from April 2011.  Managers, staff and families are very concerned at the effect of cuts on the future viability of the Nursery. 

Church Street Nursery has 20 places and offers sessional and full day places for 2-5 year olds and runs play schemes in the spring and summer holidays for 2-8 year olds.
