Dolphin Square Foundation has awarded RADICLE a one year grant of £24k to support families living in overcrowded accommodation. We are delighted that the Foundation is supporting this project which recognises the importance of home circumstances and the negative effect living in overcrowded conditions can have on the child and the whole family.

Nursery staff will aim to engage with 15 parents/carers of children who attend Church Street Nursery and are living in overcrowded accommodation, either in social housing or in the private rented sector. They will work with the family to help them develop solutions to relieve current living conditions. This will include supporting parent/carers to raise their self esteem and self confidence to improve their ability to change their circumstances and to establish a network of support and contacts that could assist them in addressing housing issues. It is acknowledged that there is a high incidence of overcrowding in the Borough of Westminster combined with a shortage of affordable housing.

Chair of RADICLE Trustees, Judy Barrett commented "This funding from Dolphin Square Foundation will be of real benefit to many families in the Church Street area. The long term aim of this project is for families to have a more realistic expectation of their housing options and a better understanding of the intricacies of the residential market."
