Church Street Drop-in Centre
Located in a bright, modern ground floor building, RADICLE’s Church Street Drop-in Centre last year welcomed 430 older people. Westminster’s high levels of prosperity are juxtaposed with significant poverty. Church Street Drop-in Centre is in a ward where 77% of people aged 60 and over are living on benefits. Over the year we served 9,862 hot lunches and 12,913 refreshments. Each week we run a programme of varied activities such as keep fit. arts and crafts, yoga, knitting and crochet, pampering and well-being class, cards and board games. People greatly appreciate the hot nutritious meal we serve, but meeting people and chatting to friends is also very important to them.
There are 25,000 residents aged 65 or over in the London Borough of Westminster, 50% of them live alone.
