Whitechapel residential scheme
A Victorian building close to Whitechapel tube station, this scheme has eight large bedrooms each with their own cooking facilities plus a shared lounge, secluded garden and IT suite. A Support Worker is on hand Monday to Friday during working hours to help the young women develop good parenting and domestic skills in preparation for independent living. Clients are referred to the scheme by Tower Hamlets Homeless and Housing Advice Services. For more information download a leaflet.
There are major problems with poor quality housing in Tower Hamlets and the rate of overcrowding is 14% compared to an overall London rate of 5%.
